Who we are
Short Car Leases is a trading name of Cocoon Vehicles Ltd ("we", "us"). We are the data controller for personal data collected through this website. You can contact us at enquiries@shortcarleases.co.uk or on 0330 330 9425.
What we collect
- Enquiry data — name, company, email address, telephone number, the vehicle and term you are interested in, and anything else you choose to tell us.
- Application data — where you proceed to an application, additional information including date of birth, address history, employment and financial details, collected by us or by the funder underwriting your agreement.
- Technical data — IP address, browser type, device, pages visited and referral source, collected through Google Analytics.
- Communications — records of correspondence by email, telephone and WhatsApp.
Why we use it
- To respond to your enquiry and prepare a quotation (legitimate interests / steps prior to a contract).
- To process a vehicle application and administer any agreement (contract, legal obligation).
- To carry out credit and identity checks where you apply for finance (legitimate interests, legal obligation).
- To send marketing email, where you have opted in (consent — withdrawable at any time).
- To improve the website and understand how it is used (legitimate interests).
Who we share it with
We share personal data with vehicle funders, supplying fleets and credit reference agencies where necessary to obtain a quotation or process an application, and with our IT and communications suppliers acting as processors on our behalf. Where you ask us to introduce you to an insurance partner, we share only what is needed to make that introduction. We do not sell your personal data.
Credit reference agencies
Where you apply for a finance or rental agreement, we and the funder may perform a credit search. This will be recorded on your credit file and may be visible to other lenders. We will always tell you before a full search is carried out.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not proceed are retained for up to 24 months. Records relating to an agreement are retained for at least six years after the agreement ends, to meet financial and tax obligations.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to data portability. Where processing is based on consent you may withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email enquiries@shortcarleases.co.uk.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
International transfers
Some of our suppliers process data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on adequacy decisions or appropriate safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement.
